Unique swimming experience in Copenhagen Harbour
The 5,000-square-metre water culture center will contain both indoor and outdoor swimming facilities as well as wellness, training rooms, meeting rooms, etc. One of the main attractions in the water culture house will be an outdoor heated pool with a view of Skuespilhuset located on the opposite side of the harbor. Outdoors, a harbor bath will be established with various bathing options for children and adults.
Floating brick facade and complex interlocking architecture
The building is composed of 5 cone-shaped building parts (A-E), which are partially supported by a space grid in steel (f) located centrally in the building. The facade is made of specially designed bricks which are supported by the steel structure, which has set stricter deformation and stiffness requirements for the steel structure.
On the ground floor, the load-bearing structure along the facade appears as V-pillars, which are supported at ground level by the concrete substructure. For several of the V-pillars, this assembly takes place at the water level of the basins, and this has been a major focal point in the design, which has led to stricter requirements for the type of steel used in this assembly.
