We have participated in a variety of projects ranging from simple steel frame buildings to overhead transmission tower and bridges. Our experience ranges from code-based structural design to detailed FE-calculations, design of cold-formed members, aluminium structures, buckling analysis, vibration analysis, fatigue assessment to fabrication and site inspection.
All phases of the project
At KI we offer services through all phases of the project. We provide tender design, concept, basic and detail design of buildings, members and connections. Additionally, our steel experts can assist with fabrication and site inspections.
3D modelling and workshop documentation
All steel design at KI is modelled in 3D and we offer the full production package including workshop drawings (assembly and parts) and erection drawings – either as part of a complete design package or as a seperate service.
We use modern modelling tools, including Tekla Structures, Solidworks and Inventor.
Fire design
We offer fire design of steel- and composite steel-concrete structures as an integral part of our services.
We provide the required isolation thickness (fire boards or paint), the critical steel temperature or the actual fire resistance of the unprotected structures og connections.
Danish and international codes
Our team of engineers has extensive knowledge of current Danish and international design and fabrication standards and we have an active member in the Danish Eurocode committe for design of steel- and steel-concrete composite structures (S-1993).
Fatigue
For structures subject to fatigue load, we provide verification and life-time estimations. We have an in-depth knowledge about Eurocode 3 and we can assist with the load definition (number of cycles and amplitudes), FE analyses, steel detailing and design of fatigue prone welded connections.
